Cabela's Helps Police Keep Hazelwood Safe with a Safe

The store donated a safe to the Hazelwood Police Department in appreciation of its aid at St. Louis Mills.

The (HPD) substation at is constantly busy.

If you read on any given week, you will see a few instances of "borrowing without asking" at St. Louis Mills stores.

The substation, which five police officers operate, is also manned with help from several police volunteers. This enables the officers to spend more time patrolling the mall, according to a statement.

In appreciation of that patrol, donated a Remington gun safe to the HPD substation at St. Louis Mills. 

"The Hazelwood police offers here at St. Louis Mills have been amazing as far as keeping us safe, operating in a safe manner, and responding quickly to our security needs," said Ben Swope, Cabela's asset protection manager in a statement. "Through conversations we've had with the officers, we learned the substation needed a safe to secure evidence.

"I partnered with the store's general manager and the director of asset protection, and we made a decision to donate a gun safe to the police station."

Swope said the Hazelwood police officers spend a lot of time at the store and give them a lot of attention. In recent months from Cabela's.

"Their service has been excellent," he said. "I've been in this industry for quite a while, and the partnership we've formed with the Hazelwood Police Department has been unmatched by any other police departments I've dealt with over the years."
