American Red Cross Memorial Blood Drive

On Thursday a blood drive will be held with the American Red Cross in honor of Matthew and Andrew Akin.

The drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at All Star Dodge Chrysler Jeep located at 11503 St. Charles Rock Rd in Bridgeton.

This is honoring two children, Matthew and Andrew Akin, in which blood donation was used to help with an immune deficiency called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis.

The goal is to replace the approximately 100 units of blood they received during their journey. Both succumbed to the disease before the age of 5.
