Hundreds Flock to BIGFOOT 2012 Open House

Hazelwood's most popular resident hosted its 6th annual open house on Saturday, and despite 100+ degreee heat, it was a packed house. Upload your photos from the event.

There were car crushes, there were autographs, there was barbecue and most of all, there were lines of people there to enjoy it all at lot in for the company's sixth annual open house.

, the company started their open house five years ago as an "experiment."

"We just tried it out for the heck of it, without any big expectations," Welker said. "We knew that we'd become a tourist attraction, but we had no idea the open house would be so huge.

"The first year, we had thousands of people come from all over the United States and even a few from Canada."

On BIGFOOT's Facebook page, the event was all the excitement as people expressed coming for the first time, bringing grandchildren and posting pictures of their first time seeing BIFGOOT.

"I can't wait its my first time going," said Andrew Adams.

Jeremy Mark came all the way from Wisconsin.

"My girlfriend and I had a great time at your open house today," he said on the the page. "It was our first trip to Midwest 4WD, and the displays, car crush, and even the food were great.

"Thanks to everyone involved for the awesome hospitality!"

Brandon Day left Indiana at 4 a.m. Saturday just to get to the event.

Tom Montgomery said it was a most memorial day.

"Midwest 4X4 should be called the happiest place on earth because, to us, it is a place dreams come true," he said.
