10 Fish Fries in North County, Lenten Meal Solutions
Check out this round up of churches offering fish fries in 2013.
Lenten fish fries began on Feb. 15 and typically are each Friday through Lent, except Good Friday. Easter is March 29. Here are several fish fries to check out in North St. Louis County.
St. Ferdinand Catholic Parish, 1765 Charbonier Rd., Florissant, Mo.
Cost: $10-$30
Date and time: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
St. Ferdinand is arguably one of the oldest fish fries around. This year it is celebrating 60 years of good eating. There is fried and Cajun catfish, fried and baked cod, shrimp, chicken, pie and more.
Florissant General Baptist Church, 424 Graham Rd., Florissant, Mo.
Cost: $9 all you can eat
Date and time: Every Friday of lent. 4-8 pm
One of the few baptist churches that hold fish fries, Florissant General offers all you can eat catfish & Cod.There are also chicken strips, Jalepeno and regular hush puppies, fries, green beans, spaghetti, cole slaw, dessert and lemonade, tea, and coffee to drink.

VFW Post 4105, 410 Rue St. Francois, Florissant, Mo.
Cost: A fish meal is $8
Date and time: Every Friday during Lent including Good Friday. 3 p.m.- 7 p.m.
VFW's meal includes fish and two sides. A fried shrimp meal includes 6 jumbo shrimp and two sides and is also $8. There is hand-breaded Alaskan Cod during Lent. Sides include slaw, sweet and sour slaw, potato salad and spaghetti. The VFW has an open bar so you can also have a beer or cocktail. The annual fish fry benefits veterans and active military troops.
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, 3500 St. Catherine, Florissant, Mo.
Cost: Adult Dinner $8
Date and time: 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. every Friday in Lent
This church has been hosting fish fries since it was St. Thomas Apostle. There is fried Alaskan cod offered at this location. Sides include poppy seed coleslaw, clam chowder, French fries, green beans and hush puppies.

Our Lady of Guadalupe: 1115 S. Florissant Rd., Ferguson, Mo.
Cost: Adult Dinner $8
Date and time: 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. every Friday in Lent
This fish fry has Mexican influence, much like the parish’s large Hispanic congregation. Fried cod is served along with baked tilapia, fish tacos, shrimp, guacamole, clam chowder, baked apples, mac & cheese and quesadillas.
