Werner Stops By MTC Truck Driving School in Hazelwood to Hire Veterans

Werner Enterprises will be at the Midwest Training Center Truck School Friday. The goal is to hire U.S. veterans through a program called Operation Freedom.

Veterans looking for work have an opportunity for on-the-spot- interviews Friday in the City of Hazelwood.

Werner Enterprises is sending U.S. Army veteran driver David Conkling to Midwestern Training Center (MTC) Truck Driving School in the company's Operation Freedom truck, for a driver recruitment event focused on U.S. military veterans. The event is also called Operation Freedom, and it's a military apprenticeship program.  

MTC is located at 11842 Missouri Bottom Road. The event is Friday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

According to the company, Werner developed Operation Freedom in conjunction with the White House veteran campaign. The Company has pledged to hire a minimum of 1,000 veterans in 2013 and more than 5,000 veterans in the next five years.

Military veterans comprise approximately 20 percent of Werner’s professional driver work force and 15 percent of all Company Associates. Werner was founded in 1956 and is a transportation and logistics company.
