Patch Pick'em: Old Town Donuts vs. Angelo's Chicago Taste

First round matchups also include Pantera's Pizza vs. Ferguson Brewing Company; California Grill vs. African Place; and Whistle Stop vs. Seansie Irish Pub.

This week, Florissant Patch and Hazelwood Patch launched their first-ever Patch Pick'em tournament to find the best local restaurant in the area!

Patch Pick'em runs along the same lines as the much-hyped college basketball tournament, except it uses local restaurants instead of college basketball squads.

All matchups were found by creating a randomized list via random.org.

Pantera's Pizza vs. Ferguson Brewing Company

Pantera's Pizza: Pantera's Pizza is a St. Louis favorite. Home to the Hunk Pizza, a 5 1/2 pound pizza, it sells pizza by the slice as well as pie. You can order your pizza online and Patera's delivers to your front door. Come in or call to try a combo or a pie.

Ferguson Brewing Company: (From Ferguson Brewing's website) Only natural ingredients go into the beers at Hill Brewing Company. Each recipe at Hill Brewing is unique and they all begin with malt.  Our malt is carefully weighed, according the recipe. The brewery also offers an extensive menu with burgers, pizzas, wings, salads and more.

California Grill vs. African Place

California Grill: The smell of freshly grilled meats and vegetables hits you instantly when entering the restaurant. One of the most popular menu items are the chicken wings. Flavors include hot, honey, buffalo, and California Grill's signature "Cali Style" – a mix of sweet and spicy flavors.

African Place: The African Palace serves authentic continental African food. Root vegetables are the primary focus, as well as meats, giant snails and exotic seasonings. You will find beef, chicken and fish served with rice and beans, spiced rice or fried rice. Look for the Chef's specials like Special Fried Rice with Jumbo Shrimp or Pounded Yam, Amala or Eba served with the soup of your choice.

Whistle Stop vs. Seansie Irish Pub

Whistle Stop: Looking for a unique place to grab a bite? Try Whisle Stop. Plenty on the menu, including sandwiches and salads. But Whistle Stop is known for their sweets such as shakes, malts and concretes. Try the Train Wreck Challenge—30 minutes to eat 13 scoops of ice cream with two toppings.

Seansie Irish Pub: Welcome to a pool player's haven. There's much fun to be had in this Irish Pub, including pool, darts and a jukebox and live music, and all sorts of entertaining machines for playing electronic cards. A robust bar and a menu full of satisfying food, Seansie Irish Pub & Grub has definite flair. Check out the larger-than-life barbecue pit out front.
