Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both in Hazelwood and within reasonable striking distance.

HAAZELWOOD WEST HIGH TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER

  • Where/When: An All-Music Trivia Night will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hazelwood Community Center, 1186 Teson Road. Doors open at 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Funds raised will go to Writers Week at Hazelwood West High School. Soda and light snacks will be provided. The top-scoring table will receive a cash prize. To reserve a table, contact Doug Jameson at 314-953-5203, ext. 38248, or djameson@hazelwoodschools.org.
  • Pricing: The cost is $120 per table of eight. 
  • Where/When: 4344 Shaw Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63110 (Shoenberg Theater, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: New Sunny Mount Missionary Baptist Church Chancelor's Choir performs traditional gospel favorites in commemoration of Black History Month. The choir was the St. Louis Overall Regional Winner in Verizon's "How Sweet the Sound" 2010 nationwide church choir competition.  Seating is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Pricing: $8, $4 St.Loius city/county residents, free for Garden members and children under 12 years of age.
  • HIT THE ICE

    • Where/When:  The City of Florissant  offers weekend skating lessons. Kiddies (ages three to five) 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.; Beginners (ages six and older) 9:25 to 10:10 a.m.; Advanced Beginners 10:20 to 11:05 a.m.
    • Why Go: This Saturday is the last day for weekend lessons.
    • Pricing: $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Skate rentals are available.
 

    FOR LITTLE BOOKWORMS

    FAMILY SUNDAYS AT THE ART MUSEUM

    • Where/When: Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. are all about in Forest Park.
    • Why Go: Each month features tours and activities on a different theme.
    • Pricing: Free
