Craig Woods Now Historic District

The Craig Woods Subdivision was designated as Kirkwood's newest local historic district by the Kirkwod Landmarks Commission at its meeting Wednesday evening.

The 49 Craig Woods homes by builder Burton Duenk serve an example of mid-century American architecture.

A group of Washington University students, under the supervision of local preservation historian Esley Hamilton in partnership with the Kirkwood Landmarks Commission, developed an historic inventory of the Craig Woods Subdivision in Kirkwood.

In recent years, three homes in the subdivision have have been demolished.
