Crime Log: Thieves Target Unlocked Homes, Vehicles
The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for August 1 through August 7.
Monday, August 1
- At 6:18 a.m., a resident from the 2000 block of Briargate Lane reported a residential burglary. Sometime during the overnight hours someone entered the home and stole a laptop computer, cell phone and two purses containing credit cards.
- At 7:13 a.m., a second burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Briargate Lane. A cell phone, wallet, and laptop were stolen from the second residence during the overnight hours. Both homes were entered via unlocked doors.Β Β

- Beginning at 6:55 a.m., officers responded to several reports of attempted burglaries in the Osage Hills Subdivision near Big Bend Road and Interstate 270. Break-ins were attempted at residences on Sweetbriar, Briargate, Thorncliff and Barberry Lanes. No damage occurred at any of the homes. Entry was gained into one home on Thorncliff Lane through an open window while the resident slept. A purse with credit cards, a laptop computer and camera were stolen. Detectives are investigating.Β
Friday, August 5
- At 4:37 a.m., a resident from the 100 block of Peeke Avenue called police to report a vehicle break-in. The resident interrupted subjects breaking into her vehicle. The three males fled from the area. While officers were processing that vehicle, officers interrupted the thieves in the 2100 block of Briargate Lane. One 18-year-old male was captured but two other males were able to flee from police after an extensive search. The suspectβs vehicle was located nearby with numerous stolen items in it. Detectives later arrested two males, another 18 year old and a 21 year old, at a residence in St Louis County. All were charged through Kirkwood Municipal Court for stealing. Thefts were found to have occurred in the 100 block of Peeke Avenue, the 1000 block of Glenford Court and the 2100 block of Briargate Lane. Several other stolen items from the vehicle were linked to numerous vehicle break-ins in neighboring jurisdictions. The investigation into those thefts is ongoing. All vehicles targeted by the thieves were left unlocked by their owners.Β
Saturday, August 6

- At 6:04 p.m., police were notified of a theft at a business located in the 10300 block of Manchester Road. A patron of the business reported his locker was broken into and a wallet containing credit cards and cash was stolen.Β

Sunday, August 7
- At 7:03 p.m., police stopped a motorist for a traffic violation near the intersection of North Woodlawn and Gill Avenues. Investigation led to the arrest of the adult male driver. Computer checks found he had a suspended driverβs license. He was also charged with possession of marijuana.Β
