Ex-Pioneer Named College Volleyball Athlete of Week

Former Pioneer volleyball star Courtney Haring has been named a student athlete of the week by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has selected former volleyball standout Courtney Haring as a Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 2-4, wibw.com states.

The selection follows Haring's play last weekend at the Lynn Invitational as a freshman for Emporia State University in Kansas. The middle hitter averaged 1.82 kills per set, hitting .393 while racking up 30 blocks, averaging 1.76 per set. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Florida event.Β 

But there’s more to Haring than her athletic abilities. She also has a big heart.

Haring collected about 400 pieces of sports equipment and more than 1,000 retired uniforms to send to kids who are less fortunate.
