K-9 Handler Passes on Tips About Heat and Pets

Lt. David DeGonia, one of the resident K-9 handlers, is encouraging residents to visit the Humane Society of Missouri's website to learn about weather tips for their pets.

Here are just a few tips from the Humane Society's website:

• Never leave a pet unattended in a parked car when the temperature is more than 70 degrees.
• Be certain outdoor pets have access to fresh, clean water at all times.
• Do not bicycle or rollerblade with a pet, as heat stroke and possible death can occur very quickly, particularly in hot weather.
