Kirkwood Officer Chases Down Man Wanted on Statutory Rape Charge
The officer was checking on a possible theft from Walmart and found the man had a warrant for his arrest in Cole County.

A Kirkwood police officer chased down a man wanted on a statutory rape charge in Cole County outside the Kirkwood Walmart Jan. 16.
Kirkwood Police said the officer was investigating a possible theft from Walmart, 1202 South Kirkwood Road, at about 5:57 p.m. Jan. 16. He stopped Craig D. Jones Jr, 22. When the officer checked his record, the officer found Jones was wanted in Cole County on a statutory rape charge.
When the officer informed Jones he was under arrest, the defendant fled and was captured after a short foot chase, police said.

The St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday charged Jones, of the 3500 block of Osage Street in the city of St. Louis, with resisting arrest. A warrant had been put out for his arrest after he missed a hearing in Cole County Cicuit Court Jan. 15.
Jones was being held in St. Louis County Justice Services in lieu of a $10,000 bond. His bond was revoked in Cole County.
