Sale to Minor in Kirkwood Triggers FDA Warning Letter

An FDA inspection of the Kirkwood Mobil earlier this year found that an employee of the store sold a pack of cigarettes to a minor.

During a compliance check of the station earlier this year, an employee sold a pack of cigarettes to a minor, according to an FDA warning letter.

The employee failed to verify the minor's date of birth by checking a photo ID, the letter says.

The sale occurred June 2 and resulted in warning letter dated Sept. 15 to Wallis Companies, the owner of the station. Wallis responded to the warning letter within the FDA's required 15 days, according to Wallis spokesperson Tracy Hughes.
