44th Year for Potpourri at Burroughs Saturday

Massive community garage sale is a major fundraiser for the school each spring.

If you are driving in the area of Clayton and Price roads Saturday and if you are not looking for one of those fabulous discount deals at Potpourri on the campus of John Burroughs, you might want to find an alternative route.

By 7:30 a.m., the doors swing wide open on the biggest shopping event of the year each year at this historic school in Ladue.

Jennifer McDonnell, Kris Milner and Janet Rogers are graciously serving as tri-chairs of this event. It takes a full year to pull off a successful Potpourri.

Burroughs has three annual fundraisers and this is the largest of the three. The money is generally a gift to the operating budget; a gift to a capital fund (with one currently underway) and a gift to the faculty wish list for items that are outside of their normal budgets.

These gifts support everything from tuition relief to classroom resources.

Everyone loves Potpourri because it involves so many students, faculty, staff and parents all working for one common cause.

Everything is on sale from donated clothing to furniture and jewelry to an endless supply of household items.

Warning to shoppers: the tables are generally picked clean by noon time or before.
