Another Proud Moment For Our Town's Celeb August Busch IV

August Busch IV, our town cause celeb of Huntleigh must be poppin’ his ever loving buttons. He just won another round in the legal squabbling over his late girlfriend Adrienne Martin and the $1.5 million cash settlement over her alleged and mysterious drug-related death in December, 2010.

First, keep in mind, only in America are there two legal systems. One for the rich and the famous (and near famous) and one for the rest of us.

Here’s how the conversation might of gone December, two years back:

Local police “Oh, Mr. Busch, we got a 911 call. We understand someone in your home (estate) is having a hard time responding.”

Busch “Yep, something like that. We shook her and shook her but she won’t get up.”

Shortly thereafter, the ambulance carted off the aspiring young 26-year-old actress to the morgue.

Some time later, Busch appears before the county prosecutor.

Busch: “I don’t want to talk about the case. I got nothing to say.”

Prosecutor to the media “Mr. Busch has nothing to say about this mysterious death, case closed.”

Must be some real consolation for her estranged husband Kevin Martin and her minor son or the Trampler and Eby family down in Springfield, MO (family of the late Ms. Martin).

These days, the plaintiffs are wrangling over a cash settlement (we used to call it hush money) and something about a change of venue from Cape to St. Louis for a new trial.

Attorneys for the Martin family want the trial to stay put in Rush Limbaugh town. They think the jury would be made up of pals of Busch here.

Good thinking.

These are tough times for a man of great privilege. It would be hard for him to go out a lot in public. After all, he’s accomplished so little if anything in his lifetime?

I remember wealthy friends from school who managed to turn billion dollar businesses into million dollar ones. With money does not always come good graces, good manners or good decision making.

Busch has done little if anything since selling his overly generous share of Anheuser Busch to InBev a couple years ago.

I doubt if he’s under the rack, changing the oil on his car in his large garage at home.

August A. Busch, Jr. the patron saint of this clan surely is spinning in his grave. He created so much good in this community. He gave jobs to thousands; nurtured a great baseball franchise and donated millions back to those less fortunate. His name is on buildings all over town.

On the other hand, August Busch IV has done so little if anything. His legacy will be zippo.

This is a real stain on the rest of the nice folks who live in and around Huntleigh. I bet they don’t invite him over the fence to dinner any time lately.
