Imagination Toys in Ladue is Going Out of Business

Owners Marge, Dave Versprille retiring after running this location for 26 years.

Another Ladue store bites the dust.

Marge Versprille, approaching age 69 and her husband Dave, 71 have had enough of the business world. They are retiring and closing their store at 9737 Clayton Rd. in the Market Place in Ladue.

This store has been a fixture in Ladue since its opening on September 16, 1985.

For years, mothers and grandmothers could count on getting high quality children’s gift items, even en-route to a special birthday party.

The store will remain open if a sale is completed by the end of February. There have been several inquiries.

If the doors are closed for good, that leaves Spicer’s 5 and dime and Ladue Pharmacy as the only local places to buy children’s toys and other specialty items outside of the regional big box stores like Target, Toys "R" Us and Walmart.

Until the closing, all items have been marked down 50 percent for final sale. Sales the first day were very brisk.
