Ol' Blue Eyes Will Have to Wait Longer to Croon

More procedural steps by City of Frontenac before liquor license can be approved.

For those citizens waiting for a top-notch pasta meal, the wait will be longer.

Ol' Blue Eyes,  at 731 S. Lindbergh Blvd. (location of the old Coco's Restaurant) will not have its liquor license proposal on the table for the next regular Frontenac Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday night.

Rather, Frontenac's city staff is recommending ammending the existing ordinance to be consistent with the state, county and other muncipalities to not require signatures. However, "We are recommending that surrounding properties be notified of a public hearing with a date to be determined with 15 days notice," said Bob Shelton, Frontenac's city manager.

Ol' Blue Eyes is free to open without a liquor license approval, "But I don't think they will want to do that," said Leesa Ross, city clerk for the City of Frontenac.

Ready to open the doors was reported on today via the Sauce Magazine Blog written by Ligaya Figueras. According to the blog, construction at this site has been off and on for nearly two years. The health of owner Mike Faille was the main issue. Faille is owner of the Talayna's chain of restaurants including Mike Talayna's Juke Box restaurant, and Talayna's at the Park.

The menu will have a sustainable fresh fish program. The restaurant will serve Talayna's pizza; along with traditional pasta dishes, lamb risotto, and a few seafood items. Ol' Blue Eyes will be open daily, serving dinner only. The restaurant will have seating for 140 diners, with room for 45 at an expansive 38 foot bar.
