St. Joe Volleyball Stops Mater Dei's 46-Game Win Streak

Defending state champs are primed for the playoffs. Three regular season games remain plus tournament in Phoenix.

Karen Davis' Angels volleyball team is back at it for a chase for the Class 4 state volleyball crown. They have the privilege of carrying the initials DFC's--Defending State Champions.

Playing a rugged schedule, St. Joe is 18-5-0.

But there's still unfinished business to manage. They have road games this week, Tuesday at Borgia in Washington; Thursday at Nerinx Hall then complete the regular schedule Oct. 17 at Washington, Mo. Finally they go to the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix Oct. 20-22.

The Angels are playing short. Their star with 150 kills, Natalie Gower is gone for the season with ACL surgery.

Elise Ames, rugged in the middle has 85 season kills and 40 blocks. The core of the starting unit is Ames plus Elise Jensen, Grace Carter and Molly Keeven.
