St. Louis-Area High Schoolers Honored for Foreign Language Skills

All those hours studying a foreign language have paid off for a group of St. Louis- area high school students who were honored for their achievements by the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

Twenty-four high school students from the greater St. Louis metro area received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Languages at a recognition dinner held on March 21 in the Millennium Student Center on UMSL’s North Campus.

Madeleine Swanstrom from Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School was among the recipients. This is the first year the honors were bestowed.

The award recognizes high school juniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement in academics and languages, as well as participation in foreign language-related activities and studies.

The keynote speaker was Jordi Prats, a senior executive from the Maritz Company.
