St. Louis County Library Director Resigns: 5 Things to Know
With a $108 million dollar upgrade plan on the horizon, Charles Pace resigned suddenly, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The search is on for a new director of the St. Louis County Library, according to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The library is headquartered in Frontenac.

The Post reports Charles Pace resigned earlier this month, staff found out this week and an interim director has been named.
Following are a few more details about the sudden resignation, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch article.
- Staff members were notified of the resignation Tuesday by an email from Lynn L. Beckwith Jr., president of the library board of trustees.
- Pace’s resignation reportedly took effect July 12, but Beckwith gave no reason for the resignation.
- Kristen Sorth, assistant director of administration, is now serving as interim director for the St. Louis County Library.
- The library system is preparing for a 10-year, $108 million plan to update its facilities. A 6-cent raise in the district tax levy was approved by county voters in November which was to help pay for capital improvements to the library.
- Pace, who's been with the library since 2006, helped persuade voters to approve the library’s first tax-rate increase in almost 30 years.
