The Total Insanity of Athletes Playing Hurt

For the first time in modern history, I must say I agreed with something that came out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth.

Tickle me with a feather. In my entire adult life, I have never agreed with one solitary word that Rush Limbaugh has uttered on the EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) Network.

Never, ever.

Some would question my sanity at all why I even listen to this bafoon on the radio. As a side note, here’s why.

When Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz are bashing El Rushbo on PSMBC as the Great One calls it, I want to know exactly what he said on KMOX’ 50,000 red hot watts between 11 and 2 so I understand exactly what they are referencing.

I live by the belief: keep your friends closer, and your enemies closer.

That said, Rush was on a diatribe Monday about the Washington Redskins playing their quarterback Robert Griffin III with a badly injured leg.

OMG, I agreed with Rush after some 5 million, 700,000 broadcasts where our beliefs are wider apart than Lake Superior.

Rush was right, playing RGIII in those circumstances was a colossal mistake. Here, they were risking this incredible talent while trying to win just one NFL playoff game. he could be forgoing his entire professional career for a single win. Imagine that!

Rush was into this macho Mano e-ma-no thing, and he was right.

Think of the lessons we are serving the next generation. He was talking about a 15 year old female soccer player who was competing while having a concussion. How stupid is that?

Ah for the good old days.

I’ve been around long enough to remember when injured athletes would go to physical therapists and doctors and try and get well before playinf in the  next big game. They, and their parents had enough sense to try and get healed before taking the field.

This seems so yesterday.

The injured warriors now just throw some tape and spit on their wounds and carry on. We  have NFL stars who sit home in ruination from constant concussions and debilitating injuries. Dan Dierdorf has had so many knee surgeries, he can hardly walk.

I remember once, Kansas City’s center E.J. Hollub saying he had 20 knee surgeries. I don’t think they give the Medal of Valor for most knee surgeries. They should have been examining his head.

This is insane. Rush is right. OMG.

The time has come to take the injured combatants off the field. The doctors and trainers should rule.

Sorry pal, no injury updates

Watching one of the bowl game broadcasts recently, the announcer on the field said so and so team does NOT give out any injury information. The player could lose a leg and the team would deny that ever happened.

We’ve gone crazy with sports. And this one of the outcomes.

These are some lessons to teach our children and grandchildren.

I can hear it now: "oh you little wimp, you tore up your knee. Wrap it in gauze and get back out there."

This is all total BS insanity. Rush finally got it just right this time.
