Woodcock Among 39 Missourians Selected to Leadership Missouri

2018 Class of Leadership Missouri

HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis today announced its President and CEO Shannon Woodcock, of Clayton, was among 39 Missourians selected by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 2018 Class of Leadership Missouri. This premier leadership development program is designed to enhance the leadership skills of current and emerging leaders through an in-depth exploration of the state’s economic, political and social issues. Over the course of the next seven months, Woodcock will travel to various communities across the state for monthly, two-day sessions that will enable her to network with the state’s top government, business and non-profit leaders, and gain a better understanding of the diverse industries and people that make up Missouri’s economy.

“Since its inception in 1990, Leadership Missouri has helped hundreds of Missourians become better leaders,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber President and CEO. “Leadership Missouri graduates are serving across our state as top business executives and managers, as well as in community and political leadership roles. The type of education and training provided in Leadership Missouri is exactly what we need going forward if we hope to succeed in realizing our vision for Missouri 2030 and repositioning the state as a global economic leader.”

Woodcock has been at the helm of HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis (formerly known as the Delta Dental Health Theatre) for a decade. She has been credited with raising the needed capital to transform the Delta Dental Health Theatre, which was a popular fixture on Laclede’s Landing for 38 years, into the first and only children’s museum solely dedicated to health education in the St. Louis region and one of only three in the United States. Since the new museum opened its doors in May 2016 at 1100 Macklind Ave, near the Saint Louis Science Center, it has provided more than 50,000 HealthWorks! experiences to children and caregivers. The museum has also been ranked among the Top 10 Destinations for parents and educators in St. Louis.
