Year-End Thanks to Local Police

A police officer's job calls for them to be a diplomat, a psychologist, a lawyer, a friend and an inspiration! Here's a nice commemoration to pass along; author unknown.

 

Police officers in Ladue, Olivette and Frontenac, perform quite a few job duties that probably don't always end up on their job descriptions. For that, here is a tribute for the many ways they've helped the community.

Police officers are many things, actually:

... sons or daughters, brothers or sisters, fathers or mothers, an uncle or aunt and sometimes even a grandfather or grandmother.

... is a protector in time of need and a comforter in time of sorrow.

... suffers from an overdose of publicity about brutality and dishonesty.

... suffers far more from notoriety produced by unfounded charges. Too often acts of heroism go unnoticed and the truth is buried under all the criticism. The fact is less than one half of 1 percent of all policemen ever discredits their uniform. That’s a better average than you will find among clergymen.

... is an ordinary man or woman who’s called upon for extraordinary bravery. Their job may sometimes seem routine but the interruptions can be moments of stark terror.

... are the men and women who face a half-crazed gunman, who rescue a lost child, who challenge a mob and risk their necks more than we realize.

... deserves respect and profound thanks.

... stands between the law abider and the law breaker. They are the prime reason your home has not been burned, your family abused and your business looted.

Try to imagine what would happen if there were no policeman around.
