Boogaloo Has a New Owner
Dan Powers has no formal schooling in a kitchen. He learned his trade by working around St. Louis.

Dan Powers helped part owner Mike Johnson get the Creole restaurant off the ground eight years ago. Now it’s all Powers’.
“Mike was looking to get out to move on to other things,” he said. “Just fell into the right place at the right time.”
He said he couldn’t ask for a better place. “It's the kind of food I like, the neighborhood I like.”

Powers, 29, has lived in Brentwood for the past eight years.
He learned the trade through experience. He has no formal schooling in a kitchen. Powers was a sous chef and supervisor at the for the past six years.

“He worked at the meat department at , so he has some butchering experience,” Charles O’Rear, front of house manager at the Bottleworks said.
“He’s very well-rounded in the kitchen. He has a lot of experience smoking meats, and he knows a lot about local purveyors and local products."
Besides that, O’Rear said Powers is a “good guy, honest, straight shooter, hard-working.”
Powers said the food at Boogaloo is his favorite–creole, jerk, Caribbean, the Cuban sandwich–so don’t expect a big change in the menu. He said it's what people come in for everyday.
He'll add a couple new entrees and appetizers.
“Same kind of food, same everything, just new seasonal menus,” he said.
