Brentwood Election Results: Prop 1 Has Failed

BRENTWOOD, MO — Voters have rejected a measure authorizing the city to levy a 1.5 percent use tax on purchases from out-of-state vendors who are exempt from local sales tax, and on internet purchases over $2,000 per year by individuals when self-reported on their state income tax returns. The tax would have applied only when residents bought from entities that did not have an office, store or warehouse in the State of Missouri, and was expected to raise $28,000 annually. The money would have gone toward improving Brentwood's city services, street repair and park maintenance.

The final vote was 218 for to 312 against.
