Brentwood City Administrator Awarded Pay Increase

The $5,000 raise will take effect at the beginning of next year.

Brentwood city administrator Bola Akande will receive a raise on Jan. 1.

A $5,000 pay increase was granted to Akande during a closed Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting last Monday. The board voted 7-1 to approve the raise, with Ward 3 Alderman Andy Leahy providing the lone no vote.

The raise was scheduled for August 2012 but was moved up with the vote. It's different than the 1 percent merit increase that has been scheduled in 2012 for all qualifying employees.

The increase is scheduled to begin five months after Akande started her job as city administrator. Akande amid different financial scandals in the city and has been credited by the mayor and aldermen for adding levels of accountability to the city.

Akande's new salary will be $106,000.
