Brentwood Schnucks Renovation Is Underway

A major remodel and redesign of the Schnucks Store in Brentwood began this month and is expected to be completed by mid-summer.

Fairview Heights-based construction-management firm IMPACT Strategies was hired to lead the aggressive redesign. Kuhlmann Design Group is responsible for creating the new design concept for both the interior and exterior of the building.

Mike Voss, project manager for IMPACT Strategies, said in a press release that the store will remain fully operational throughout the construction process so as not to disrupt customers’ shopping experiences.

“We are doing all we can to minimize the intrusion for customers as we work to create a more inviting space that will allow for new, specialized services,” Voss said.

“The interior will undergo a significant upgrade consistent with that of newer Schnucks locations in the metro area," said Joel Kerschen, project manager for Kuhlmann Design Group. "We are confident Schnucks’ customers will thoroughly enjoy the aesthetics and functionality of their new store.”

The Schnucks store will gain improvements to its interior, building facade, landscaping and 14 new light fixtures. Plans also call for an updated sign and new exterior entrance features unique to the location. 

Less visable improvements will included a new rooftop and heating and cooling unit on the building.

“The overall impact of such an extensive remodel has our teammates and customers excited and energized," said Store Manager Steve Hart. "The atmosphere is supercharged now and our customers love coming here and talking about the changes.”

Other Changes 

The property's owner, Regency Center from Cincinnati, OH, submitted an application to the city of Brentwood seeking several renovations.

Bola Akande, city administrator for Brentwood, told Patch the addition of a 2,100 square foot building on the northwest corner of the parking lot also is proposed. The space would host retail space and offices. Because of the addition, the site would lose some of its parking spaces. 

Any upgrades would mark the first improvements since the building's construction in 1985, Akande said.
