UPDATE: Former City Administrator Pleads Guilty to Embezzling $30,000 of City Funds
Chris Seemayer used the money to pay for personal gambling at the Casino Queen, a U.S. Department of Justice news release states.

Chris Seemayer, who worked as Brentwood's city administrator for 22 years, pled guilty to embezzling city money to fund his personal gambling at the Casino Queen, a U.S. Department of Justice news release stated.
He has been charged with two felony counts of federal program theft. Each count "carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000," the release notes.

Seemayer embezzled approximately $30,000 between Jan. 1, 2010, and March 5, 2011, the news release states. Seemayer withdrew cash advances on a city credit card for gambling money. The advances were paid for by city operating funds, the release states.Â
Seemayer, 54 of Fenton, abruptly resigned on March 11 without any explanation or notification to the public. City officials had been silent about his resignation, citing the matter closed to the public because of personnel matters.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Sept. 14, 2011.
