The eighth-grade Spanish class began celebrating by creating murals and bulletin boards to educate the Brentwood community.
The following information was submitted by the eighth-grade Spanish class.
Hispanic Heritage month is from September 15 to October 15. It is a month to celebrate independence. It is most important to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. People in those countries celebrate their independence by having parades, fiestas, and making crafts like paper flowers.
Desi Arnaz, Diego Rivera, Rita Hayworth, Celia Cruz, Roberto Clemente, Pèle and Chi Chi Rodriguiz were only a few of famous Hispanics around the world. Desi Arnaz played as Ricky Ricardo in I Love Lucy, Diego Rivera was a very famous muralist, Roberto Clemente was a very famous baseball player who had an award named after him and Péle was a famous Brazilian soccer player.

Many Hispanic foods are popular today and are eaten during Hispanic Heritage Month. A few of those foods are churros, magdalenas and leche fritas. Churros are a fried dough dipped into chocolate, magdalenas are small, sweet cakes and leche fritas are a famous Hispanic pudding.
At Brentwood Middle School, we are doing a similar task of spreading news around by doing activities such as putting up signs, bulletin boards, and murals. We will be hosting a Hispanic Bake Sale for our school in October.
