Jumpin' Jupiter's Doors to Stay Open; Gets OK From the State, License from City

owner Jim Callahan was called into a Maplewood revocation hearing last Tuesday, and was told he had until end of day Friday to show the city clerk he had taken care of past due sales taxes, or his business license would be revoked on Monday, July 2.

On Monday, the red lights surrounding the windows at Jumpin' Jupiter were still on.

As reported in the Riverfront Times on Monday, Callahan "narrowly evaded eviction this weekend after owner Jim Callahan settled a dispute with the state for $28,000 he owed in sales taxes. The city of Maplewood agreed to renew his business license on Friday."

After Van Ella Productions, the producer of many Jumpin' Jupiter shows left, accusing Callahan of non-payment, Callahan hired new entertainment. The new group advertised on the sidewalk the first night. What the young women wore in public, caused controversey. A little more than a week later, Callahan received the notice to appear in the revocaion hearing.
