Man Faces Unlawful Use of Weapon Charges After Traffic Stop

Police found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat in the car after a stop for a traffic violation and outstanding warrants.

A St. Louis man was charged Thursday with unlawful use of a weapon after a traffic stop in Maplewood.

said in a report that they pulled over Brandon J. Knighten at the intersection of Sussex and Cambridge avenues for a traffic violation and outstanding warrants Sept. 22. Knighten, 22, is from the 4500 block of Arco in St. Louis.

A car search after the arrest discovered a loaded Hi-Point .45 cal handgun under the driver’s seat and a small bag of marijuana in Knighten’s sock, according to the report.

Bond was set at $5,000.
