Maplewood Boy Competes for Pokémon Fame

Remember Alex Krekeler? He's the 9-year-old Maplewood boy who recently took first place in the Junior Division of the Play! Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Regional Championship at Yeti Gaming at Crestwood Mall.

Well, Alex showcased his skills on another level.

Alex competed in front of more than 1,500 other players, fans and family in the 2011 Pokémon U.S. National Championship held in Indianapolis, IN, last weekend. He placed in the top 32 in the Junior Division, which is comprised of players born in 2000 or later.
