It started around 9 p.m. last night, when Patch reporters started posting photos and updates from the scene of the fire. We relied on information posted by friends like Rebecca Konersmann and Pat Wilken Maloney to direct our initial reporting. (Thank you for your help!)

As the pictures started appearing on the page, folks started sharing stories and memories about the dentistry. The building was full of family heirlooms and baseball memorabilia, including the scorecard from Stan Musial's final game, signed by all of the players.

Here's one memory, from Konersmann: "I'm a huge cardinals fan and when I walked into his office a couple years back I thought OMG I'm in heaven."

Diana Pepmiller Kloeppel also shared a memory: "Sooo sad - I've been going to this office for 35+ years - first to Dr. Clifford and then Dr. Fischer for probably the last 30+... can't imagine the sense of loss and devastation they are feeling."

After hearing about all of the history from friends like Konersmann and Kloeppel, we decided to talk to the Clifford family to learn more about the significance and history of the building. It's a very sad and beautiful story: .

On Friday, another of our Facebook friends, Jennifer Day, asked about dropping off some food at the firehouse for the firefighters that .

We didn't know the answer immediately, but Lucy Shea Faulkingham and Jeni Koenigsfeld did! They let everyone know that firefighters are appreciative of the love and support. Thanks for helping out with the answer, Faulkingham and Koenigsfeld, and thanks for the kind gesture, Day.
