Maplewood Police: Man Steals Video Games, Runs From Police, Caught on Weaver Avenue

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Tuesday, March 19

• A 24-year-old woman was arrested on a drug violation in the 7500 block of Sussex.

Wednesday, March 20

• A larceny from a vehicle occurred between 8:30-9 a.m. in the 7300 block of Manchester. The unknown suspect(s) gained entry by damaging the door lock mechanism at which time entry was gained and a car stereo was stolen.
• A 24-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
• A 41-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Thursday, March 21 

• A 17-year-old female was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
• A 26-year-old man was arrested for trespassing after police located the subject walking on the railroad tracks near S. Big Bend and Railroad Street. A records check further revealed the he had several active warrants through another jurisdiction. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was charged accordingly.  

Friday, March 22 

• A trash can was set on fire in the area of Maplewood Commons Drive and Corcoran at approximately 7:40 a.m. Witnesses observed a male subject set the fire to the trash can. Officers were unable to locate the subject upon their arrival. Damage was only sustained to the trash can.
• A 42-year-old woman was arrested in the 7200 block of Manchester on a Parole Violation. She was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at the time of her arrest and charged accordingly. 

 Saturday, March 23

• A 53-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
• A 26 year-old-man was arrested for shoplifting video games from a Maplewood Commons business. Upon police arrival the man ran from officers and was later apprehended in the 7700 block of Weaver Avenue. The merchandise was recovered and returned to the business. The man was additionally charged with the offense of resisting arrest by flight. 
• A 29-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting approximately $160 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
• A 19-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting alcohol from a Maplewood Commons business.

Sunday, March 24 

• A 1994 Ford F150 was reported stolen from a parking lot of a Maplewood Commons business between 11:30 and 12:30 p.m. Police are reviewing video surveillance in the area. 
• A 38-year-old man was arrested on a drug violation in the area of Commonwealth and Sussex.
