Michaels Crafts Store to Fill Former Borders Space

The arts and crafts store is expected to open in Brentwood in September 2012.

The announcement was made by Mayor Pat Kelly during a Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday night.

The store could even open as early as June 2012, he said.

Michaels specializes in "arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall decor, and seasonal merchandise for the hobbyist and do-it-yourself home decorator," as noted on the retailer's Facebook page.

The company signed a lease for the large space inside the building at 1519 S. Brentwood Boulevard. Another store is expected to fill the space that housed the coffee shop, though a name hasn't been released because a lease hasn't been signed yet.
