MRH's Million Minor March Marks First Year: A Report

Three Maplewood Richmond Heights students went to a youth event, The BIG Return Summit, in Nov., last year, to brainstorm how to bring together students from MRH and 40 other St. Louis-metro-area schools to execute large-scale community service efforts. The .

The march was May 5, and Melissa Martin, a master's degree student at Washington University, and a practicum student at Brittany Woods Middle School, in University City, chaperoned a group of students from the school to the march.

She wrote an article about the experience for the Wyman Center.

Martin reported from the march in downtown St. Louis from Soldiers Memorial to Kiener Plaza:

The day ended at Kiener Plaza with a group picture in front of the Arch and several speakers from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School inspiring the youth to continue making an impact in the world. While I would approximate that the Million Minor March and rally, was actually more like a Hundred Minor March, I think it’s important to not discredit the small beginnings.
