MSD, County Municipal League to Talk $945 Million Bond Issue

The two agencies are expected to offer opposing sides regarding a plan to overhaul the St. Louis-area sewer system.

The Brentwood Board of Aldermen is scheduled to vote on two bills during tonight's 7 p.m. meeting in :

  • A bill to hire George Butler Associations to negotiate the acquisition of property for the city. The city aims to run sidewalks from the through the Hanley Industrial Court to the Brentwood Promenade and . Brentwood was awarded a federal grant to help pay for the sidewalks.
  • A bill to amend the to reflect changes made throughout the year, including a $250,000 adjustment for legal costs ($406,204 total). 

Presentations from Metropolitan Sanitation District (MSD) and the St. Louis County Municipal League are also scheduled. The agencies will offer opposing sides regarding a potential bond issue to overhaul the sewer system, City Administrator Bola Akande said.

MSD is looking for public support of a $945 million bond issue to pay for the upgrade, while the municipal league is advocating for other uses of that money.
