Maplewood Personal Fitness Trainer: Never Too Late to be What You Might Have Been

The trainer says being fit has to be a priority.

Kirsten Stevens has a challenging location for a fitness trainer.

Mirror Image Lifestyle Fitness, at 2718 Sutton Boulevard is across the street from Pie Oh My and soon to be, Strange Donuts.

“I joke with my clients,” she said. “I'll put little bells on them so I’ll know where they’re walking. Don’t undo what you just did!”

Stevens, 36, holds classes in her storefront and also does in-house personal training.

She said her niche, if she has one, is people who have never exercised or “the person who was really active, then settled down, had kids and career, then put themselves on the back burner.”

She calls a quote from George Eliot her passion: “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” She said that could mean personal life, career, or fitness.

“You body is very forgiving, and you have to realize that you have to put yourself first, even though a lot of people have a hard time doing that.”

Stevens is certified in kettlebell training, and does strength, free weight, kick boxing and intensity training.

“I can get you in and out in a smaller amount of time,” she said. “That 30 minute class will make you feel like you just worked out for 90 minutes.”

Stevens became a licensed practical nurse in 1999 before becoming a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise. She's also a certified Kettlebell Instructor. She will have been in business two years in May.
