South County Gateway Harley Donates $20,000 to USO

With a long tradition of supporting active and veteran military personal, Gateway Harley-Davidson has raised $20,000 for the USO of Missouri and will present a check on April 14th at 4:00 pm in the dealership’s south St. Louis County showroom. The donation comes as part of an eight year campaign, which has raised more than $100,000 for the USO of Missouri. The check presentation will also kickoff the 2012 fundraising effort, a year where Gateway plans to raise $50,000.

To raise money for the 2011 campaign, an event was held every month at Gateway Harley-Davidson with a USO fundraising element. Events included a bike show, bike wash, memorial ride, a golf tournament at Annbriar Golf Course, and the raffling of a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Glide.

“I grew up watching my dad riding and I always wanted to give it a try. I thought I was just supporting the military but Gateway helped make my dreams come true,” said John Dunker, winner of the 2011 motorcycle raffle.

According to Rene’ Creed, owner of Gateway Harley-Davidson, in addition to the raffle for a motorcycle in 2012, the dealership plans to giveaway a second motorcycle to a military member as a much deserved thank you for their service.

“Tying the military presence of our surrounding community into the family of Harley-Davidson has inspired us to include all local, active military personnel in a free motorcycle giveaway. We are hoping to reach out to as many as 4,000 military personal, with the wonderful help of the USO of Missouri, and include them in this giveaway and our events throughout the year.”
