Crime Report: Police Looking for Mattress Firm Assault Suspect

The St. Louis County Police crime report from May 19 to May 28 includes incidents occurring in Mehlville, Oakville and Lemay.

May 19

Camera equipment was reported stolen from the 13500 block of Chatham Manor Drive. The equipment was stolen from a vehicle and found discarded in a neighboring yard. 

May 22

  • Police arrested a suspect for felony theft of an animal. A dog was reported stolen and then recovered from the 100 block of Tapestry Drive. 
  • A firearm was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 4440 block of Welford Drive. 
  • A wallet, MP3 player and credit cards were reported stolen from the 12300 block of Old Tesson Road. 

May 23

  • A cell phone was reported stolen from the 7200 block of Meramar Drive.
  • A cell phone was reported stolen from the 5600 block of Telegraph Road.

May 24

A purse, cell phone and debit cards were reported stolen from the 5400 block of Baumgartner Road.

May 25

  • Between the hours of 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., unknown suspects broke into a victim's vehicle by prying and popping the passenger door handle while it was parked on the 1900 block of Mansard Drive. The suspects disarmed the car alarm and $80 was reported stolen. This is the third car break-in at this location.
  • A suspect entered through the unlocked rear door of a 2000 Ford Excursion parked on the 5300 block of Kings Park Drive. A GPS, iPod, change, and six CDs were reported stolen between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

May 26

Police arrested a suspect for stealing more than $500 in goods. Clothing and lotion was reported stolen and recovered from the .

May 27

Pet care products were reported stolen from on Lemay Ferry Road. 

May 28

Police are looking for a 6-foot black man, approximately 35 to 45 years old with medium build and short hair. The suspect entered the Mattress Firm on Lindbergh Boulevard and pulled a silver revolver on the manager inside the store. The victim shoved the gun away and a fight ensued that continued outside the building. The suspect pulled the trigger and misfired before running toward the Holiday Inn. Police think the man traveled north on Interstate 55 in a black, Chevy Impala.
