Get Out: Jefferson Barracks Hosts Camp Jackson Reenactment

Plus, farewell to deploying troops, Optimist Club Barbeque and Ladies' Night Out are all happening this weekend.

With more rain forecasted for the weekend, make sure you bring the umbrella for your outdoor activities. Check out the Camp Jackson Reenactment at Jefferson Barracks, say farewell to troops heading to Afghanistan at Mehville High School or savor grilled favorites you don’t have to slave over at the Mehlville Optimist Club Barbeque.

When/Where: Friday, April 29, Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 from 10 am to 5:30 p.m. at (345 North Road)
Why go: To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Jefferson Barracks park is hosting the reenactment of the Camp Jackson Affair, a pivotal event in Missouri's Civil War history. Check out a variety of historical reenactments, battles and artifacts from the Civil War era.

Farewell Ceremony for Troops Deploying to Afghanistan
When/Where: Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at Mehlville High School (3200 Lemay Ferry Road)
Why go: Help say farewell to 170 soldiers of the 1138th Transportation Company during a departure ceremony hosted by the Missouri Army National Guard.
Cost: Free

Mehlville Optimist Club Barbeque
When/Where: Friday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot at Old Navy (4498 Lemay Ferry Road)
Why go:  Savor tasty barbequed rib, chicken, pork steak and brat dinners with no grilling, cooking or cleanup involved – all for a good cause. Proceeds will benefit local youth and community groups.
Cost: $9 for rib dinners and $7 for all other dinners

Ladies’ Night Out
When/Where: Friday, April 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Market Café at St. Anthony's Medical Center (10010 Kennerly Road)
Why go: Enjoy and evening of shopping, appetizers, wine and chocolate along with a chance to win gift items in a raffle. Proceeds benefit St. Anthony's Medical Center.
Cost: Tickets are $10 per person in advance from the St. Anthony's gift shop, or $15 at the door.

Elementary Track and Field Meet
When/Where: Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at (5557 Milburn Road)
Why go: Come cheer on the Mehlville School District's fifth-grade boys’ and girls’ teams during their various track and field events.
Cost: Free
