Mehlville Fire Protection District Finances ‘In Healthy Condition’
An independent accountant presented an annual financial report with great news for the district.

Robert B. Offerman, audit partner at an independent accounting company, presented the a 74-page report on the finances of the district from the year ending Dec. 30, 2011.
Offerman, of the Hochschild Bloom & Co. firm, said the district was in a comfortable financial position.
- Some highlights of the report were:The fire district’s net assets went up by more than $2 million from 2010 to 2011. The total net assets for the 2011 year were $34,953,841 compared to 2010’s $32,480,544.
- The report also shows that expenses increased from 2010 to 2011, but the revenues also increased thanks in part to an increase in the charges for the district’s services and grants received.
- The district revenues increased by more than $600,000 compared to the previous year. In 2010, the district had revenues of $20,491,762 and in 2011 the revenues were $21,123,819.
- The district’s expenses increased by more than $400,000. The district spent $18,212,080 in 2010 and $18,650,522 in 2011.
“All in all, the district is in a healthy financial condition,” Offerman said.
The Mehlville Fire Protection District is the largest paid fire department in the state and covers the area south of Gravois all the way to the Mississippi River.
