Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Chloe Ruth is currently a freshman at Oakville High School in South St. Louis County, Missouri. In addition to being a great student, she’s a dedicated athlete and has been a baton twirler for more than a decade. She loves to promote the sport of baton twirling anywhere and everywhere — traveling both nationally and internationally for competitions and collegiate twirler days and seizing the opportunity to perform at every community event offered through Saint Louis Performance Academy. She’s currently a feature twirler with the 7-member Tiger Twirling Line at Oakville High School and performs for spirit days, the homecoming parade, Friday night football game half time shows and sidelines as well as halftime entertainment for basketball and soccer games. Recently, she was one of six Saint Louis Performance Academy twirlers chosen to be a part of “SLPA True Colors.” The group was chosen from 130 acts representing 72 high schools and performing arts organizations plus homeschoolers as one of 14 finalist acts competing at St. Louis Teen Talent 2024. They were chosen to receive the “I” Award from the Fox Theatre Performing Arts Charitable Foundation for the most imaginative, inspired and inventive act and received a $1500 prize. She also won Oakville’s Got Talent 2024 as a high school freshman and Oakville’s Got Talent 2023 as an 8th grade student — both for solo twirling performances. And in August 2023, she and her Saint Louis Performance Academy team were part of TEAM USA, representing our country in the International Baton Twirling Federation competition in Liverpool, England. The Saint Louis Performance Academy team came home as Silver Medalists in Junior Majorette Parade Corps and ranked 4th in the World for Traditional Corps. In addition to baton, Chloe is a fantastic student — managing classes and good grades and being an outstanding friend to many. Two years ago, Chloe, befriended a student from Afghanistan shortly after she arrived at school. Chloe found translation software and assisted both the student and the student’s teachers with language hurdles and completing classroom assignments. She ate lunch in a classroom with this student until the student became comfortable eating in the lunchroom with other students. They aren’t just classmates, they are great friends! Chloe is also a second year social media intern with Only Twirlers (www.onlytwirlers.com) and is responsible for creating and posting weekly baton-relatable content on TikTok. She’s also manages the Saint Louis Performance Academy (www.saintlouisperformanceacademy.com) TikTok account. I could go on and on about the kindness she displays on a daily basis, her volunteerism, her hope for baton twirling to become an Olympic sport and the love she has for her one-and-only brother. Thank you for considering Chloe as our Oakville community’s outstanding local student and spotlighting all students deserving of recognition!
