OHS Senior Wins Missouri Leadership Award
Jordan Lewis will use the scholarship to pay residence hall fees at Southeast Missouri State University.

graduating senior Jordan Lewis received the Missouri Leadership Award this month, a competitive scholarship awarded to active students with high GPAs.
The scholarship is worth $500 and will be applied to Lewis’ residence hall fees when he attends Southeast Missouri State University.
Lewis said he wants to go to college, but for years, he and his family weren’t sure they could afford a four-year university. He’s worked in the A+ program, which offers free tuition to a two-year local community college in exchange for good grades, 50 hours of tutoring, and avoiding drugs or alcohol.

But recently, Lewis said he and his parents decided to aim higher: the computer science program at SEMO, the nickname for Southeast Missouri State University. He’s taking a web design and coding class at OHS now and wants to continue his education at a higher level.
The Missouri Leadership Award will help Lewis do just that. The award is given to students who are active in school and community activities throughout their high school years.
