WWII Weekend Heads to Jefferson Barracks

The park will host battles Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday, more than 350 WWII re-enactors are storming the St. Louis County Park to re-create history. 

The historical soldiers will portray three battles, two on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and one on Sunday at noon. On Saturday night, the Friends of Jefferson Barracks will host a .

"There's German, U.S., a little bit of Russian and all of the European soldiers are here," said Dan Dexter with the 2nd Rangers Battalion re-enactors. 

The soldiers set up on Friday and visitors can walk through the encampments to see historical artifacts throughout the weekend.

"It gives you a different aspect from just seeing it in the books, you can actually see the stuff and see what it was like," Dexter said. 

Approximately 15,000 people came out during last year's WWII weekend, and Dexter hopes to get that same amount. 

"It's free! So come out and learn a little bit about the history that we feel isn't taught enough in schools nowadays," he said.
