Adopt a Pet: Meet Jefferson the Shepherd, Lab Mix

All Paws Rescue volunteers need help finding dogs and cats permanent homes.

Pets are available for adoption through , an O'Fallon based volunteer group working to save homeless dogs and cats.  All pets are kept in foster homes, where they receive the care they need to help prepare them for a permanent home.

All Paws is supported solely by private donations and fundraisers.  If you're interested in adopting an animal, you can browse their website or attend one of their weekend adoption events at area  stores. Last year they adopted out close to 300 pets.

Jefferson is a nine-month-old male Shepherd/Lab mix.  All Paws volunteers say Jefferson loves people and he seeks out attention and petting.

He recently came into rescue after living most of his life outdoors, so he is still learning some basic house manners. He does well with other dogs and loves to play and wrestle with them.

Volunteers say Jefferson is good with children, but may be too much for young children and may accidentally knock them down. Jefferson just completed three weeks of intensive training, and he is doing much better about not jumping up on people. He still needs to continue working on his manners, and a free six-week training class is provided for his adopter at Infinite Pawsibilities in O'Fallon. Jefferson has a lot of energy and would make a great walking or jogging partner.
