Adoptable Pets: Cookie Could Be the Pup For You

All Paws Rescue volunteers need help finding dogs and cats permanent homes.

Pets are available for adoption through , an  based volunteer group working to save homeless dogs and cats. All pets are kept in foster homes, where they receive the care they need to help prepare them for a permanent home.

All Paws is supported solely by private donations and fundraisers. If you're interested in adopting an animal, you can browse their website or attend one of their weekend adoption events at area  stores. Last year they adopted out close to 300 pets.

This week's featured pet:

Cookie is a four-month-old Beagle mix weighing about 12 lbs.  She and her four litter-mates were rescued from a rural shelter in Illinois.  All Paws volunteers say they think the puppies were abused or neglected, because they were very timid when they were rescued, and appeared to have a cigarette burns on the tops of their heads.

Volunteers say the puppies are doing great now and have learned that not all humans are bad people. Cookie is the runt but also the ring leader who rules the pack.  She loves to lay with people. All Paws volunteers say Cookie is doing great on her potty training, but she is used to having a doggie door to go in and out on her own.
