Cross Country
The season has started off well as we hosted 27 schools at the FZN Twilight Invitational. Some of the fastest times in the state were recorded there Friday and our teams ran well with several student-athletes just outside of medal range.
Girls Varsity Twilight Race Info: 21:21 average time with an elite 58 second 1-5 split. This put our girls team way ahead of where we started last year with a team that qualified for the state cross country meet.
Boys Varsity Twilight Race Info: 17:54 average time with a 1:55 1-5 split which also puts the boys at a great start for the season.
We look to continue a nice start to the season at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival this Saturday.
Boys Soccer
The soccer program has started the season well. Coach Penn led the C team to a 0-0 draw against Timberland with Chase Davis earning the shutout. Coach Jennings led JV to comeback twice from a goal down to draw 2-2 with rival Zumwalt South. Varsity entered the FZ classic on the back of 0-0 draws with FZE and Troy in their jamboree and earned wins over Parkway North, Francis Howell Central, and Fort Zumwalt West to win the Classic. They then opened conference play with a 1-0 win over rival FZS. AJ Wickerham leads the team with 3 goals including the game winning goal over South. Wilson has earned two shutout victories, including a PK shootout win, and Kiely was fantastic in a shutout victory over South
Girls Golf
The girls golf team is currently 2 and 1 on the season and sitting 3rd in the GAC in team points. Currently all of our varsity players are in the top 10 in GAC individual points with Isa Flores has winning all of her individual conference points so far in 3 matches, placing her atop the GAC for Golfer of the Year. Isa also had a amazing round scoring 79 in the Washington Invitational, tying for 1st, but ultimately taking home a strong 2nd place finish in a scorecard playoff.
Girls Volleyball
The “Volleycats” stand at 2 – 2 in the early going of the 2023 season. The Panthers recorded victories over Duchesne and St. Charles West, while falling to both Liberty and North Point. Tonight, the Panthers look to bounce back against intra-district rival – Fort Zumwalt South.
Girls Tennis
The FZN “Courtcats” are off to a hot start, sporting a 4 – 1 overall record. The team has been led by their top six singles players: Lucy Paro, Ella Rosenberg, Bekah Bacon, Leah Rosenberg, Emery Layne, and Maria Martin, and their top three doubles teams: Lucy Paro/Diana Calzada-Torres, Ella Rosenberg/Bekah Bacon, Leah Rosenberg/Emery Layne.
