Returning State Qualifiers:
Nathaniel Provost, Jacob Bals, Cole Aguirre, Deacon Moran,Carsten Burkemper, Patrick
Provost
Returning Varsity Letter Winners:
Logan Bizzle, Drew Mayton, Drake Weston, Nick Rebstock, Jack Bals
Newcomers:
Chaz Mitchell, Mason Meier, Eli Testa, Jude MIller
Team Goals/Expectations:
The Panthers finished top 15 in the state last year for the second year in a row. The team
finished with a 13-5 dual meet record to move coach Cooper past the 100 win mark (109 Dual
meet victories).
The Panthers return six previous state qualifiers
- Nathaniel Provost is currently one of only 9 wrestlers in FZN history to be a 3x State
placer. He looks to join an even more exclusive list and become the 5th 4x State placer
in North’s history and first since 2012.
- Deacon Moran made the finals last year and looks to improve on his 2nd place finish. In
the offseason Deacon became the first Zumwalt North wrestler in school’s history to
become a Fargo All-American in the school’s history after placing 7th at 190 lbs in
freestyle. He was also the 16U Folkstyle National champion and became the first
Panther to ever win a USA wrestling national tournament.
- Junior Cole Aguirre took 2nd as a Freshman but failed to place in 2024. He finished the
year with a 45-4 record and now holds the school’s record for most wins as a Freshman
(48) and Sophomore (45). Both he and Deacon should pass 100 victories during their
Junior year.
- The other returning State qualifiers from 2024 are two Sophomores in Patrick Provost
and Carsten Burkemper. Burkemper in the off season became one of four Zumwalt
North wrestlers ever to win a Missouri state freestyle state title. Two previous qualifiers
from 2023 will be looking to make it back in Seniors Jacob Bals and transfer Senior
Chaz Mitchell.
The team is looking to vie for a GAC Championship this year and their first top 10 state finish in
over a decade. The returning qualifiers and the hard work put in by Drake Weston, Mason
Meier, Nick Rebstock, Jack Bals, and Eli Testa the Panthers could very well help the team
achieve these goals.
First Meet:
December 3rd Tri-meet vs. Lafayette (Wildwood) & St. Puis X (Festus) @ North
Girls Wrestling:
Returning State Qualifiers:
Reaghan Jones & Kate Cochran
Returning Starters:
Baylie Wehmeyer, Hadley Davis, Braedyn Carson, Becca Ridgeway, Brianna Everrett
Others:
Addison Cooper, Jade Sanders, Molly Herman, Faith Combest
Team Goals/Expectations:
The Panthers lose to graduation the Girls all-time wins leader and only 2x Girls state placer
Jailyn Ebert to graduation. But there is experience coming back with 7 returning letterwinners.
The Female Panthers return two previous state qualifiers:
- Sophomore Reaghan Jones is the only returning state qualifier from 2024 and
she set the Freshman girls win record with 33.
- Kate Cochran qualified for state in 2023 but was unable to wrestle at districts
due to injury. Kate is one of only two North girls to ever place in the Missouri state
freestyle tournament.
Many girls put in a lot of work in the off season and look to improve their finish from last year
and help take the female Panthers to new heights this year. The girls will travel to Columbia, MO
again this year for the prestigious Wonder Women tournament which is one of the toughest girls
high school tournaments in the country. They will look to extend the streak of someone placing
in that event for the 5th straight year.

Quote: "This is the team we have been working towards for quite some time. The coaching staff has weathered some storms trying to set the tone and culture knowing that these individual athletes could answer the bell. The leaders on this team took that mindset and ran with it last year, and this year we return the majority of those athletes with big goals and even bigger work ethic. It boils down to these individuals going out and doing what they have worked their careers for, but if they do...it could be a pretty fun ride." --Coach Coop
