Grimes inducted into GAC Hall of Fame!
FZN to recognize 1987 graduate Tim Grimes on February, 11th.

On Tuesday, February 11th, Fort Zumwalt North will recognize 1987 graduate Tim Grimes for his induction into the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame. A graduate from Fort Zumwalt North (then known as Fort Zumwalt Senior High School), he was a long-time teacher, coach and administrator in the district. While a student-athlete at FZN, during the mid-to-late 1980’s, Tim Grimes was a member of the basketball and baseball programs. He helped the baseball program capture their first district title in school history in 1986. Tim went on to a successful collegiate career at Fontbonne College, where he played basketball and ran cross country. He spent the early years of his professional life as a teacher and coach at Fort Zumwalt South High School, where he taught math and coached basketball and baseball for the Bulldogs. “Coach” Grimes was the head coach of the Boys Basketball program from 1997 – 2000. His teams captured multiple conference titles during this time. Tim returned to his alma mater in the fall of 2000, where he served as an assistant principal from 2000 – 2007. From there, he was tabbed to head up the Fort Zumwalt East Activities program where he served as the Activities Coordinator from the school’s opening in the fall of 2007 until his retirement at the conclusion of the 2021 – 2022 school year. During his time at East, several programs won their first conference championships and district championships etching his mark on East for years to come. He was also a part of the first team final four in school history with the East High baseball program. Tim and the Grimes family have a long-legacy in the FZSD. All four of Tim’s children graduated from the district and his father, Les, was a long-time teacher and coach. Never one to get too far away from the action, today Tim serves as the Athletic Director at Veritas Christian Academy.
All family, friends, former athletes and colleagues are invited to the ceremony, which will take place prior to tip-off, estimated 6:30 pm, at the North High boys basketball game (vs FZ East) on February 11th.
